Boyne City Planning Commission
Establishment
The Boyne City Planning Commission is established by the Boyne City Code of Ordinances – Chapter 2; Article VI.
Overview
The Boyne City Planning Commission is an advisory board to the Boyne City Commission charged with preparing and maintaining the master plan for the City of Boyne City. The Planning Commission plays a role in public improvements and projects within the city.
The Planning Commission consists of nine members, one of which is a City Commissioner. The remaining members are appointed by the Mayor with the approval of the City Commission. Members serve terms of three years, but can be reappointed at the discretion of the Mayor and City Commission.
As with any governmental entity, meetings of the Planning Commission are public, and agendas and minutes of the meetings are made available on the city website. While the Planning Commission may go into closed session for one of several very specific reasons, it is planned for in advance, with the reason stated publicly.
Regular meetings of the Planning Commission are held monthly unless a special meeting is called. In the event of a special meeting, the public must be given due notice prior to the meeting.
