Boyne City Historical Commission
Establishment
The Boyne City Planning Commission is established by the Boyne City Code of Ordinances – Chapter 2; Article VI.
Overview
The Boyne City Historical Commission is an advisory board to the Boyne City Commission charged with advancing, enhancing, preserving and perpetuate the historical interests of the City. The Historical Commission is responsible for making recommendations to the City Commission in the oversight of the Boyne City Museum, as well as any historical projects.
The Historical Commission consists of seven members, all appointed by the Boyne City Commission. Members serve terms of three years expiring on June 1st, but can be reappointed at the discretion of the City Commission.
As with any governmental entity, meetings of the Historical Commission are public, and agendas and minutes of the meetings are made available on the city website. While the Historical Commission may go into closed session for one of several very specific reasons, it is planned for in advance, with the reason stated publicly.
Regular meetings of the Historical Commission are held quarterly unless a special meeting is called. In the event of a special meeting, the public must be given due notice prior to the meeting.
