Say What you Need to Say

Take all of your wasted honor

Every little past frustration

Take all of your so-called problems

Better put them in quotations

That song, a gift to the world from John Mayer, is my plea to you. These past months of Boyne City news have been a learning experience. I have had the opportunity to report on the news of the area from sporting events to schools to honoring our veterans. To me, there has been no greater joy than spreading the word of the great things being done in this community. That being said, I want to hear from -you-. If you have an event going on, if you have an opinion to share, if you’re getting married, if you want to shout to the world that your baby has been born, that is why this paper is here. I hope that in the following weeks, I can have the joy and pleasure of hearing from you, the readers. Events are wonderful, so is feedback. What do you want to see more of in the paper? I have been blessed to have some people willing to bring up what they would like to see. By all means, please keep it up.

In other news, I can proudly say that I have joined the Boyne Valley Lion’s Club. I attended my first Lion’s meeting at Country Star with my Grandfather when I was five years old. This past week, after fifteen years of thought and deliberation, moving in and out of town, and plain out busyness, I was finally sworn in as a Lion. I have all the respect in the world for any service organizations in the world, and all that they do. I am constantly impressed by the work of the Kiwanis, Rotarians, Zonta, Lion’s, Masons, Red Cross… the list goes on. While I am not a member of all of these organizations, I have a great deal of respect for each of them, and would be happy to put any of you in touch with the right person if any of these groups interest you.

Additionally, I had the pleasure of watching Cinderella this past week. You may have read my editorial several weeks ago about the honor of working with the cast for a couple of hours. I can happily tell you that while Concord Academy Boyne is a small school, they sure make up for it in quality. The acting of these students was impressive, along with their musical ability and the obvious pride each student and their family takes in being a part of it. I looked into the eyes of staff and students alike and saw the same pride I used to have marching down the football field in Boyne City. If you haven’t gone to see their productions, african drumming, assemblies, or other functions at Concord Boyne, you’re missing out. There are many great things happening over on Dietz Road.

With that we have another week. Everyone, please stay safe if you’re going out hunting. We’re all out there to help one another, that’s why our area works. If I can help you, give me a call or drop an e-mail. In closing, because it makes me smile, I’ll share one more verse of the song.

Even if your hands are shaking
And your faith is broken
Even as the eyes are closing
Do it with a heart wide open

Say what you need to say…
