Betty Sobleski

Betty Sobleski, a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother, passed from this life on Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at Northern Michigan Regional Hospital in Petoskey at the age of 81.
She was a longtime resident of Boyne City and a faithful member of St. Matthews Catholic Church.
Betty was born July 28, 1928 in Alba, Michigan to Jess and Lena (Richards) Hadix, her family moved to Boyne City where she was raised and attended school. On October 13, 1945 she married Raymond Sobleski in Boyne City. For a short time the couple lived in Battle Creek and then in Petoskey eventually settling back in Boyne City where they remained and together raised their family. Raymond preceded Betty in death on August 13, 2001. Also preceding her were five sons, Ray Jr. and Mike and three infant boys and by six brothers and four sisters. Surviving children include Linda (John) Kujawski, Wayne (Angie) Sobleski, Cathy (Tom) Farrell, Susie Loper, Eva (Brian) Russell, Pete Sobleski, Paul (Vikki) Sobleski, Matt (Callie) Sobleski and Jeff (Kris) Sobleski. She is also survived by 23 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and her dear friend Felix Wasylewski.
Betty was a kind, loving and witty gal whose heart, arms and home were always open to anyone; her only concern was for the comfort of those around her. As a wife she was always loving and supportive as a mom she was forever there for her children and as a grandma she was the best. She was a guiding light and a rock for her family and they will miss her dearly.
A funeral mass celebrating Betty’s life will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, February 1st, at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church in Boyne City, Fr. Duane Wachowiak will celebrate mass. Interment will take place in the spring at St. Francis Cemetery in Petoskey. No visitation will be held prior to the service but friends are encouraged to gather following mass in the parish hall.
