Young Performer, Big Future

Proudly holding her guitar, Boyne City's own Ruby Williams performs at Stroll the Streets
“I think she’s great” says teenager Ruben Shell as he sits on a nearby bench watching the performance. Many people echoed similar thoughts as they listened to 14 year old Ruby Williams singing, self-accompanied on the guitar. Despite her young age, she loves music, and performing for people.
“My mother is by biggest musical influence” referring to experienced Boyne City performer Robin Lee Berry, who is a regular at 220 Lake Street. While like Robin Rubi enjoys singing and guitar, she also adds cello and several years playing trumpet in the Boyne City school band. Citing Michigan’s own Seth Bernard and world-famous cellist Yo-Yo Ma as some of her musical influences, Ruby has taken steps to become well rounded and diverse in her musical talents.
Along with playing at various venues, Ruby enjoys sailing, as do her siblings. Beginning high school in a few short weeks, she will soon have plenty on her plate for the next year. Planning to record a CD very soon, Ruby has ambitions to continue her practice as a musician, and allowing her voice to be heard throughout Boyne City and beyond.
