Morel Arts Festival On Its Way

Standing by his painting that was just sold, Jerry Douglas proudly displays a sketched diagram detailing the improvements to be made to the building
As spring starts in Boyne City, the first annual Spring Morel Art Show launches at the Boyne Arts Collective. Hosted at the Art Center at 210 South Lake Street, the Spring Morel Art Show will extend from Saturday May 1st through Saturday May 22nd featuring works by member artists of Boyne Arts Collective.
These works of art by Boyne area locals depicts Moral Mushrooms, spring flowers and seasonal objects through the eye of both well-known and seldom-heard Boyne artists. “I’m very excited for what the upcoming year has to offer.” says Jerry Douglas, who has been busily working to prepare for the festival. The proceeds from the art sales will help the Boyne Arts Collective improve the classroom and stage area. Expanding from previous years, the Boyne Arts Collective launches a new and exciting set of classes and extends its role from gallery to art center. “We’re really trying to make the push by calling it an “Art Center” and get the point across that we have other things going on.” says Douglas, as he proudly shows the painting that was sold earlier this week. Citing the painting sale as a major boost for the Arts Center, Douglas is optimistic for the upcoming year. Jerry Douglas will be working in the facility most weekdays, and all visitors are welcome. The highlights of this art show feature spring-themed art with an emphasis on morels, with artwork from a variety of people throughout Boyne. Visitors are always welcome to this event.
