When Gene Farley, a long time Boyne City resident went in for his four-way heart bypass on November 10th, the future was uncertain. Little things that were, for years, rarely an issue became more difficult. The inflateable decorations that had been up for years prior were now in question. As the worries began to set in, a group of people well known to the Farleys stepped in. “It really shows Christmas spirit when groups like this come to help” said Gail Farley. She says this, reflecting back on the work of the Fraternal Order of Eagles of Boyne City. The Eagles came in to put up decorations, bring food, fix up the house, shovel the walk, and anything else that was needed. “We really are a close-knit group.” said Gene, reflecting on the past month. Gene and Gail, who both for for the Char-Em ISD, also had a pleasant surprise from those they work with. Children from the Orion Program came to do take in the recycling, and even rake the yard before the snow came. Gail and Gene both wish to express their thanks to those who helped, and let everyone know how Boyne City works together, especially for those in need.
