In a hard fought and very physical matchup, the Boyne City Ramblers fell to the TCSF Gladiators by the score of 28-0 last Friday night.  Boyne was never able to get their offense rolling against the much bigger Glads, but played well enough on defense to keep themselves in the game.

After a scoreless first quarter, TCSF’s Riley Bullough completed a 15 yard pass to Max Bullough for the first touchdown.  The PAT was kicked by Luke Popp.  Both teams traded possessions for the rest of the half until Boyne’s Evan Orban ended a TCSF scoring threat with an interception to end the half.

The second half began with TCSF’s Ben Schell returning the opening kickoff 80 yards for the Glad’s second score.  Popp again kicked the PAT.  Later in the third quarter, the Glad’s Joey Kerridge scored a TD on a ten yard run.  The PAT was blocked by the Ramblers’ Dylan Percy.  The final scoring of the night came in the fourth quarter when the Glad’s Riley Bullough punched one in from four yards out, and Popp again kicked the PAT.

On Boyne’s offensive side of the ball, Kolbi Shumaker and Zach Bush were the rushing leaders.  Nick Young hooked up with Jalen Adams for two passes for 16 yards.

Leading the defense was Brandon Darrah with 16 tackles, Taylor Reinhardt with 14 tackles, and Dalton Looze and Gage Burt each with 11 tackles.  Coach Nohel also lauded the play of Parker Ameel on defense.

Although it wasn’t the outcome they wanted on the scoreboard, Coach Nohel was impressed with the effort of his team.  “We held them to 227 total yards – something no other team has been able to do this year.  The kids played physical and never backed down. I was proud of how they battled the entire game.”
