Home, outdoor living show this weekend

The 44rd Annual Northern Michigan Home & Outdoor Living Show is being hosted at North Central Michigan College, Petoskey, on Friday, March 13, from 11 am to 6 pm and Saturday, March 14, from 9 am to 5 pm. This event features more than 70 exhibit spaces showcasing home improvement products and services, energy-efficient systems, designers, and the latest ideas in home remodeling.

“We expanded the show to include outdoor living vendors this year,“ said Janet Chambers, Executive Office of the Home Builders Association of Northern Michigan. “Enhancing your outdoor living space is very popular today with homeowners. Vendors in this area include those featuring decks, hardscape materials, outdoor kitchens, landscaping, raised bed gardening and outdoor furniture.” A complete list of vendors is on the show website at www.HomeShowUpNorth.com.

The show will also have a huge array of aligned businesses such as those offering water conditioning systems, real estate, dog fencing and others.

New this year is a garden shed building contest by the local high school trade students. Some of the sheds will be built on site on Friday and raffled off on Saturday. Raffle tickets can be purchased at the show.

As a family-friendly event, show organizers have included children’s activities such as a self- paced scavenger hunt and DIY craft table. On Saturday only from 10 am to 3 pm, Home Depot is providing a fun building project for kids. Food will be available for purchase at the Iron Horse Café on the college campus. Admission is only $5 for adults and children 17 and under are free.
