COVID-19 cases confirmed at Munson

Test results for two more patients of Munson Healthcare facilities have returned positive for COVID-19 (SARS-CoV-2).

One patient was screened at Munson Healthcare’s mobile collection site in Manistee and is being monitored by the local health department under self-quarantine. The second patient is currently hospitalized in stable condition at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City.

Safety precautions recommended by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention and World Health Organization, which includes the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), have been followed in each of these cases.

Munson Healthcare continues to put the safety of its patients, staff and community as its top priority. As is standard procedure in these cases, Munson Healthcare is actively notifying the staff involved in the care of both patients and following up accordingly.

Munson Healthcare has established mobile collection sites in each of its communities with a hospital.

Screening at these locations significantly reduces the risk of infection to others, including staff.

These sites are not open to the general public. Patients must have a lab order from their provider in order to be screened.

Munson Healthcare continues to collaborate with state and the local health department as this situation continues to evolve.

Health system officials are monitoring developments and will continue to provide healthcare guidance and updates as appropriate.
