Utilities still being restored after winter storm

Great Lakes Energy continues restoration efforts this morning after heavy, wet snow damaged many of the cooperative’s utility lines late Monday. Since the storm hit on Monday, power has been restored to over 22,000 Great Lakes Energy members.

Blizzard conditions present a challenge for restoration efforts for the remaining 4,653 members still without power.

The largest impacted areas continue to be Antrim, Charlevoix, Crawford, and Emmet counties.

All Great Lakes Energy crews assisted by contract crews and crews from surrounding utilities continue to work to restore power as quickly and safely as possible.

Great Lakes Energy members are reminded to stay away from downed power lines and to also stay clear of trees and limbs hanging on lines.

Current outage information by counties and zip codes is updated on the Great Lakes Energy website, gtlakes.com, by visiting Storm Central.

Great Lakes Energy members can report their power outage by logging into their online GLE account, using the Great Lakes Energy mobile app, or by calling 888-485-2537.
