On Friday, December 13, 2019, troopers from the Michigan State Police (MSP) Houghton Lake Post and conservation officers from the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) were following up on a tip for a parole absconder.
They conducted a “knock and talk” at a residence in Fife Lake.
The homeowner claimed the parole absconder left earlier in the day and was not there. A consent to search the residence was given by the homeowner.
While searching, troopers located the parole absconder hiding under the box springs in the master bedroom.
Another male found inside the home attempted to provide a false name, but the mobile fingerprint scanner determined his real identity indicating he had a felony drug warrant out of Flint Area Narcotics Group (FANG).
Both men were lodged, and the homeowner was arrested for harboring a fugitive.
Traverse Narcotics Team (TNT) detectives were called to the scene and a search warrant was obtained for the residence. TNT detectives located methamphetamine and evidence of delivery.
