Create: Community Arts Studio (CCAS) is now accepting applications for its fall Artist in Residency Program.
Each year, CCAS attracts 10 aspiring high school artists into the AIR program, offering an unparalleled studio experience.
The program is a four-month residency in the fall and spring semesters with five new artists chosen each residency.
Students who are enrolled in high school by the fall of 2019 and reside in Charlevoix and Emmet County are eligible to apply.
Recipients are awarded dedicated studio space, a stipend for art materials and transportation, and the opportunity to exhibit work in Gallery 151.
Through a series of group lectures, visiting artists and studio tours, students will gain exposure within their communities and throughout Northern Michigan.
To apply artists must complete an online application and attend Portfolio Review Day.
The studio will determine recipients based upon the creativity and integrity of the individual, the ability to collaborate with other artists, and a strong desire to expand one’s artistic practice.
Applications must be electronically submitted before midnight on Sept. 27.
The AIR Program is funded in part by generous studio supporters.
