Charlevoix Cultural Corridor to host Summer Block Party

Charlevoix’s Cultural Corridor partners have teamed up to host a Summer Block Party on Clinton street in downtown Charlevoix.

This event is scheduled for Monday, June 25 between the hours of 5-8 pm.

The Charlevoix Public Library, the Charlevoix Historical Society and the Charlevoix Circle of Arts are working together to present an evening of events that join the three organizations in a street party with something for all ages to learn from and enjoy.

At the Circle of Arts, Portraits in Michigan will be on display in the main gallery.

This exhibit includes paintings, sculptures, and drawings created by members of the Portrait Society of America representing the state of Michigan.

Performing on the front lawn will be expert fiddlers Ruby John and John Richey who will be kicking off the first week of the Dorothy Gerber Strings Program Summer Strings Program.

There will also be a poster coloring project for children of all ages.

At the Historical Society, Beautiful Charlevoix: The Art and Influence of Irene Harsha Young will be featured.

There will be games for children on the front lawn.

Next-door neighbor the Charlevoix Congregational Church will be open as well to invite guests for a visit.

The Public Library will have on display the Travelling Artist Alliance art display on the Community Room Art walls. At 6pm the winners of the Art Bikes Charlevoix will be announced with the Art Bikes on display.

Abigail Stauffer, the first in the SummerFolk Concert Series will perform beginning at 6:30 pm with an Open Mic session following the performance.

Refreshments will be available at all locations and there will be a horse drawn carriage to escort guests up and down the corridor to the different venues.
