SUBMITTED BY BOYNE CITY HIGH SCHOOL TRACK & FIELD COACH ANDY PLACE

The Boyne City Track team smashed records at the Gaylord Meet of Champions.

Jacob Ager smashed the meet record in the Shot Put with a throw of 57′ 1/2″.

The throw was nearly 5 feet farther than the meet record and almost a foot farther than the BCHS school record which he set earlier this year.

Avery Stadt and Elizabeth Becker (St. Ignace) ran stride for stride in the 800M Run.  Both broke the meet record and their school records.  Avery edged Elizabeth to win in a time of 2:18.98.

Anna Harmeling broke her own meet record in the Pole Vault with a jump of 11′ 0″.

Alydia Cotton earned 4 first place medals by winning both Hurdle events and running in both the 4×100 and 4×200 Relays.

We didn’t have all of our regular relay team members, so I am really proud of the girls who stepped in.

The winning 4×100 Relay included Anna Harmeling, Molly Day, Maddie Matthews, and Alydia Cotton running one of our best times of the year 52.81.  The winning 4×200 Relay included Alydia Cotton, Molly Day, Eleri Giem, and Avery Stadt.

Other girls scoring were Reagan May 3rd in the Discus, Molly Day 4th in the 100M and 7th in the 200M, Eleri Giem 4th in the High Jump, and Maddie Matthews 7th in the Long Jump.

For the boys, Jacob Ager finished second in the Discus after winning the Shot Put.  Alex Serrano broke the meet record in the 300M Hurdles with his time of 40.77.  Alex also finished second in the 110M High Hurdles.

The boy’s 4×400 Relay of Riley Minier, Cliff Maginity, Wyatt Melvin, and Michael Sherman finished second.

The Ramblers are sending 10 athletes to the MHSAA State Track & Field Finals this weekend.
