2018 Memorial Day observances around Charlevoix County

East Jordan

AMERICAN LEGION POST #227 REBEC-HOSLER-SWEET
Monday, May 28th – Members of the Rebec-Hosler-Sweet American Legion Post #227 will place flags at our local cemeteries to honor our fallen Veterans. A Memorial Day Parade will take place down Main Street at 10:45 AM with a ceremony immediately following at Memorial Park.

BANKS TOWNSHIP
Flags will be placed at the graves of fallen veterans in the morning with a Memorial Day Ceremony taking place at noon at Ellsworth River Park conducted by American Legion Jansen-Richardson Post #488.

Flag placement:

  • 9 a.m. – Norwood Cemetery
  • 10 a.m. – Atwood Cemetery
  • 11 a.m. – Ellsworth Cemetery
  • Noon – Ceremony at Ellsworth River Park

Boyne Area

Boyne City American Legion and VFW will hold memorial services at local cemeteries from 8 to 11 a.m. Monday May 28.

At 11:45 a.m. the veterans Memorial Day Procession will leave the American Legion Post, proceeding north on Lake Street to Veterans Memorial Park for services beginning at noon.

The Boyne City High School Band will perform, and all area veterans are invited to participate.

  • 8:25 a.m. – Memorial Park, Walloon Lake
  • 8:50 a.m. – Evangeline Cemetery, Evangeline Township
  • 9:15 a.m. – Dyer Cemetery, Bay Township
  • 9:55 a.m. – Lost at Sea, Veterans Memorial Park
  • 10:25 a.m. – Advance Cemetery, Eveline Township
  • 10:50 a.m. – Wilson Cemetery, Wilson Township
  • 11 a.m. – Maple Lawn Cemetery, Boyne City
