UPDATE: The Boyne City Police Department released the following statement in the last few minutes:
The Boyne City Police Department is investigating a suspected homicide that occurred yesterday afternoon.
The victim is a 53-year-old female.
A 30-year-old female suspect is in custody.
The Charlevoix County Prosecutor’s office is reviewing the preliminary information.The victim was found inside a residence on East Main St.
The Michigan State Police Crime Lab was requested and they processed the scene inside the residence.
Also assisting at the scene were the Charlevoix County Sheriff Department, the Emmet County Sheriff Department and Michigan State Police.
Police have a suspect in custody regarding the suspicious death of a woman after they were called to a Boyne City residential area on the evening of Tuesday Oct. 25.
Boyne City Police Department officers, Charlevoix County Sheriff Office deputies, and personnel from the Michigan State Police worked the crime scene at a home on East Main Street between Boyne Avenue and Harris Street into the night.
All a Michigan State Police Officer would tell Boyne City Gazette Publisher Chris Faulknor, who arrived on scene just before 8 p.m. on Tuesday was, “We can’t release any information right now but we’ll let you know when we can.”

This matter is still early in the investigation phase but the Boyne City Gazette will update the story as soon as details are released.
