Marjorie White Ackland of Boyne City was born in 1921 in Boyne City, Michigan, a granddaughter of W.H. White and Mary Louise Reeder White and the daughter of L. H. White and Mary Eleanor Cain White.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Suzanne White Collins and two older brothers, W.H. White, Jr and L.H. “Ham” White, Jr.
She graduated from Boyne City High School and attended Albion College where she pledged Delta Gamma sorority.
After working for a year in Detroit and a year in Dayton, Ohio, she married A. Dicran Ackland in 1941.
After he returned from WWII they moved to Mr. Ackland’s Home town, Morenci, Michigan There they raised their four children: Lucy Ann, Pamela Suzanne and Twins Amy Louise and Robert Dicran.
Marjorie or Midge, as she was always called, was active In the Morenci United Methodist Church, Monday Club, Garden Club, golf, knitting and sewing.
Later when they moved to Miami, Florida, she continued to be Active in her church and still enjoyed golf and knitting.
She also worked for 25 years in an attorney’s office.
When she returned to Boyne City in 1997, she transferred her church membership back to the Boyne church in which she had grown up.
