North Central Michigan College’s International Lecture will take a look at the archeological dig at Ashdod-Yam in Israel on Thursday, February 18 at noon in the Library conference center.
This event is free and open to the public.
Ashdod-Yam, on the coast of Israel overlooking the Mediterranean Sea, was an important port from the Bronze Age through the Roman-Byzantine times and the days of the Crusaders.
North Central instructor and archaeologist Owen Chesnut will discuss the history of the area, the archaeological process and the fascinating discoveries made at this site once visited by travelers from many cultures in the ancient world.
Each semester, North Central’s International Committee, in partnership with the Michigan Global Awareness Consortium, brings free international events to campus.
Students and community members are welcome to attend all international events.
