Munson Healthcare Charlevoix Hospital has expanded its health and wellness outreach to downtown Charlevoix (pictured below) with the opening of its Wellness Workshop at 411 Bridge St., next to the Charlevoix Courier’s new office.
“This initiative supports Munson Healthcare’s fundamental purpose—to improve the health and wellness of our local communities,” said Lyn Jenks, CEO of Munson Healthcare Charlevoix Hospital.
The public is welcome to the official opening of the Wellness Workshop officially from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday June 16, during the Charlevoix Chamber Summer Open House.
Stop in, share some light refreshments, talk to staff and find out what activities and services are available.
The Wellness Workshop will provide low-cost health screenings and exciting wellness activities such as yoga, diabetes education, support groups, strength training, smoking cessation, nutrition counseling, healthy living workshops, natural childbirth classes, kids’ cooking classes, fitness opportunities and much more.
The majority of the offerings are free to the public while others have a small charge, and monthly offerings will change and grow as needed.
“We’re not an Urgent Care facility or an Emergency Room; both of those are just up the road at our main hospital on Lake Shore Drive,” said Kathy Jacobsen, Director of Community Health Education and the driving force behind the creation of the Workshop. “Instead, the Wellness Workshop is going to be jam packed with health and wellness information, activities and classes for all ages.”
