Laura Daniel, MSN, RN, CHPCNA, has been named Chief Executive Officer of VitalCare, the post-acute care affiliate of McLaren Northern Michigan, and one of northern Michigan’s top home health and hospice care providers.
Daniel assumed the role of interim CEO of VitalCare when her predecessor, Nancy Martin, retired just over a year ago.
During that time, Laura has proven to be a strong yet compassionate leader, with the knowledge, experience, and drive to ensure the organization’s long-term success.
Daniel worked in the Intensive Care Unit and Emergency Department at the former Cheboygan Memorial Hospital before joining VitalCare in 1991.
During her time at VitalCare, she supervised Private Duty Nursing and the Clinical Records department, and was instrumental in opening the Cheboygan Hospice House.
Daniel facilitated the transfer of Alpena’s Hospice of the Sunrise Shore from a volunteer hospice to a fully Medicare-certified hospice program.
She standardized all three VitalCare hospices to create a unified program.
She was promoted to Senior Director and assumed responsibilities for the Adult Day Center, out-patient Palliative Care program, and the billing department.
Daniel holds a Masters Degree in Nursing and a National Certification in Hospice and Palliative Care Nurse Administration.
Daniel is currently enrolled in the Madonna School of Nursing and is scheduled to receive her Doctorate in Nursing Practice in spring of 2016.
Daniel is a former Board member of Cheboygan Area Schools and the Michigan Hospice and Palliative Care Organization.
She currently is a member of Sigma Theta Tau, Michigan Homecare and Hospice Organization, and sits on the Board of Directors for Lutheran Family Services.
