Char-Em United Way’s third annual Toast to Literacy fundraising event will be held from 7 – 10 p.m. on Feb. 6 at Castle Farms in Charlevoix.
Plans are shaping up for a fun evening including wine/beer/mead tastings, food, live music and a silent auction.
Local caterers vie for the best Soup, Savory and Sweet selection, as judged by the crowd.
Tastings from the likes of Lake Charlevoix Brewing, Cheboygan Brewery, Petoskey Brewery, Beards Brewery, Barefoot Wine, Petoskey Farms, Crooked Vine & Vineyard, Cherry Republic are the highlight of the evening.
The silent auction includes the chance to bid on: Tom’s Mom’s Cookies; a tablet computer; a Jordan Valley canoe rental; dining from Wine Guys, Roast and Toast, Which Wich, and Side Door; gift certificates and gifts from Reusch Jewelers, Sturgeon River Pottery, Bearcub Outfitters, American Spoon Foods; and much more.
New this year will be carnival style games, a ‘take home shopping list’ on which guests can note their favorite libations, and an opportunity to directly sponsor children to participate in the Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library.
All proceeds will benefit The Imagination Library, a literacy initiative sponsored by Char-Em United Way, which provides free books to children from birth to age five in Charlevoix and Emmet Counties.
Admission is $35 at the door or $30 in advance and includes a souvenir glass and food tastings.
