Crossroads Ecumenical Resale Shop, located at 205 Water St. in East Jordan recently completed their annual fundraiser, the Ducky Derby, in which 140 rubber ducks floated down a stretch of the beautiful Jordan River at the Sportsman Park docks.
Proceeds from the event will be used toward their upcoming building project.
The original plan was to add on to the existing building but after discovering that the amount needed to build at the current location was not a good use of the money entrusted to the board, they began looking for other property.
When the VFW Building located on M-32 became available, it was decided that the location offered a much more cost effective way to get the space Crossroads needed to accomplish their mission.
The addition of 7200 square feet to the existing 3200 square feet will enable the resale shop to have furniture and off-season storage under one roof as these items are currently kept in donated space at the Family Fare Plaza.
It will allow for additional sorting and resale space as well as more storage space for Care and Share and a waiting room inside for their clients.
Crossroads is also planning to provide space for those in need of financial assistance, which is now being handled through the East Jordan Ministerial Association at the Lighthouse Missionary Church.
The Crossroads mission is to meet the needs of families in the East Jordan community by providing clothing, food, and financial resources; their vision is that all families in the community will be able to meet their basic living needs and their goal to have a “one-stop shopping” experience is very real to this Christian-based organization.
The Board of Trustees wishes to thank those who have supported the Crossroads Mission and welcome donations toward the building project.
