On Sept. 30, at approximately 11:43 p.m, the Charlevoix County Sheriff’s Office, along with Charlevoix Township Fire Department and Charlevoix EMS, responded to a reported entrapment vehicle crash

on M-66 N. in Charlevoix Estates, Charlevoix Township.

Gale Baldridge, age 69 of Charlevoix, upon exiting her vehicle at her residence, was struck by her car door when the vehicle rolled backwards and her leg became trapped underneath it.

Baldridge stated she fell on the wet pavement when getting out of her vehicle.

She thought the vehicle was in park, but it wasn’t.

Baldridge was transported to Munson Healthcare Charlevoix Hospital for treatment of minor injuries sustained.

On Monday Oct. 3, at just after 9 p.m. the Charlevoix County Sheriff’s Office along with the Melrose Twp. Fire Department, Boyne City EMS, and Boyne City Police Department responded to the area of M-75 N. Hwy and Ecker Rd. in Melrose Twp. for a one vehicle rollover accident.  

19-year-old Albert Nahinu Jr. of Boyne Falls was traveling east on M-75 N. when he lost control of his 2011 Jeep, running off the shoulder and overcorrecting which caused him to cross over the center line and run off the road striking a telephone pole.

The telephone pole was sheared off at the ground causing the vehicle to roll onto its roof. 

Nahinu was able to exit the vehicle under his own power, but was treated at the scene and transported to McLaren Northern Michigan Hospital in Petoskey by Boyne City EMS.

Nahinu was wearing his seatbelt and the extent of his injuries are unknown.

M-75 N Hwy was closed down for several hours with the assistance of the Melrose Twp. Fire Department while Consumers Energy set a new pole.

 This accident remains under investigation.
