Boyne Restaurant Week Oct. 17-24

In mid-October the Boyne City area looks forward to welcoming many visitors coming to take advantage of the Fall Boyne Appétit! Restaurant Week that runs Monday through Sunday Oct. 17-24.

“Eighteen restaurants and food retailers are participating in what is sure to be a great kick-off to our fall and winter seasons,” says Cindy Boal Janssens, volunteer coordinator of the Boyne Appétit! initiative. “Most restaurants with sit-down dining are offering 2-for-1 meal pricing at or under $35.”

The Boyne City chamber sponsored a restaurant week earlier this spring that was quite successful. “The fact that so many businesses came on board for both of this year’s efforts demonstrates just how strong our local food community has become,” Janssens explains, noting that two new food and beverage establishments—7 Monks Taproom and the Boyne City Taproom—are participating this fall.

Each participating business contributed to the costs of promoting the 2016 Restaurant Week.

Promotions consist of printed color ads in the Northern Express, Boyne Gazette, Petoskey News-Review and Gaylord Herald Times as well as the distribution of 60 posters, 300 flyers and a week of radio promotion on Lite 96.3.

Residents wanting to know what specials each restaurant or retailer are offering should either consult the Boyne Appétit! website www.boyneappetit.com or pick up a flyer with the specials listed on the back.

These are available at participating restaurants, at other local businesses and at the Boyne Chamber of Commerce office.

Here are some samples of what is being offered: A half-chicken or a steak with two sides and a dessert for $12 at Friggy’s SoBo Pub; two whitefish dinners for $20 at the Boyne River Inn; two featured entrees for $35 at Café Sante, Bella Vita, Porter Creek Fish House and Everett’s at Boyne Mountain.

Red Mesa Grill offers a three-course pumpkin-themed menu for $30. 7 Monks Taproom will offer two three-course meals for $35 with a choice of tomato bisque or a petite salad as a starter; T-bone steak, BBQ stout-glazed chicken or Louisiana shrimp and cheddar grits as an entrée, and a Moomer’s cheese cake ice cream sundae for dessert.

Those seeking casual fare can buy two x-large pizzas with two toppings for $25 at the Mountainside Grill in Boyne Falls or two meals (brisket, ribs or smoked salmon) for $35 at the Whi-Ski Inn in Boyne Falls.

The Venue Sports Bar & Grill inside BC Lanes offers two fried chicken dinners with an appetizer, beverages and dessert for $35.
