The Michigan State Police has announced the promotion of D/Sgt. Mark Harris to F/Lieutenant and Commander of the Gaylord Post.
Harris replaces F/Lt. Blake Davis who retired after 31 years of service.
As Commander of the Gaylord Post, Harris is responsible for providing leadership in the delivery of uniformed MSP services to the post service area which includes Antrim, Charlevoix, Cheboygan, Emmet and Otsego counties.
Uniformed services included traffic patrols, criminal investigations and emergency services.
Harris enlisted with the department in 1993 and graduated as a member of the 108th Trooper Recruit School.
In his 23 year career, Harris has served at the Flint, Kalkaska and Traverse City posts.
Harris most recently served as a detective sergeant at the Gaylord Post, and has also served on the Gaylord Criminal Investigative Team (Fugitive Team).
Harris holds a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Western Michigan University.
