The Boyne District Library will host the author of Liar, Temptress, Soldier, Spy, our One Book, One Community—Boyne Reads 2016 selection—Karen Abbott at 7 p.m. on Tuesday Oct. 4 in the Boyne City High School Performing Arts center.
Liar, Temptress, Soldier, Spy tells the spellbinding true story of four women who risked everything—their homes, their families, and their very lives—during the Civil War.
The evening will begin at 5:30 with a buffet style southern meal prepared by the Boyne City High School Hospitality class.
The menu will include: field greens with a sweet onion vinaigrette, assorted breads, turkey slices with cranberry relish, carved roasted pork loin, roasted rosemary potatoes, and sweet tomato pudding.
Tickets are $15 each and are available for purchase at the library or Local Flavor bookstore.
The evening will conclude with an hour long presentation by Abbott.
Abbott’s presentation will include a slideshow featuring characters from the book and she will also share the various research methods she uses to write her books.
There will also be a question and answer portion of the program for those who wish to ask the New York Times bestselling author questions of their own.
The Boyne Reads event is sponsored by the Boyne District Library, the Friends of the Library, and the Charlevoix County Community Foundation, in cooperation with Boyne City Public Schools.
Funding is also provided by the Doll-Loesel Foundation.
