Boyne Business Expo Wednesday Nov. 2

The Boyne Area Chamber of Commerce Business Expo and Taste of Boyne is moving to Boyne Mountain, for the 8th annual event, which will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday Nov. 2.

The expo is one of Northern Michigan Michigan’s largest business networking events of the year, as a crowd of more than 1,000 people come to see 90 booths from businesses, organizations and restaurants.

“The Expo was designed as a business networking event,” said Chamber Board President Mike Doumanian, “but it has turned into a giant community party. It seems like everyone in town attends, and they all have a great time. Businesses get to interact with a large crowd, and residents got to see all that our business community has to offer. And of course everybody loves the food.”

Admission is $5, which includes a visit to the booths of 12 eateries, which are all participating in the popular Taste of Boyne.

Participating restaurants and eateries include:
• BC Pizza
• Big E’s Smoke Shack
• Boyne City Taproom
• Everett’s at Boyne Mountain
• Family Fare
• Forty Acres Tavern
• Fustini’s
• Smokin’ Joe’s BarBQ
• The Trophy Room
• The Venue at BC Lanes
• Whi-Ski Inn, and 1Senior Health Care

New at this year’s Expo is a fun photo booth that will be free to everyone attending.

Many of the exhibitors will have drawings and giveaways at their booths.

The event also includes a cash bar, upbeat music from Roger Coates’ Experience DJ Service, a free parking shuttle courtesy of Charlevoix County

Transit, and demonstrations from the award-winning Boyne City High School Blaze Robotics Team.

“This is one of the best things we do for our member businesses,” said Boyne Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Jim Baumann.

“If you’re in a business locally, you don’t have a thousand people walking by your door every day.”

He added, “This is a way for businesses to show what they can do before a big crowd.”

Baumann said large booth spaces allow merchants and service providers to demonstrate their offerings.

“Some people will show what they do with laptops and video or photos of their products,” said Baumann. “Some will give live demonstrations of their products and services. And they will have the opportunity to talk one-on-one with people and answer questions.”

While the event is great for local businesses, it is also a lot of fun for local residents.

“People can mingle and talk with friends and there is a lot of good food and information,” Baumann said. “People come to the expo and say they never knew we had this many businesses and this many different services in the community.”
