Boyne bests Cheboygan in volleyball home match

Boyne City beat Cheboygan in five sets at their home match on Thursday Sept. 8.

Leading the Ramblers on the night was Senior Abby Gardner who had 18 kills, and a close to perfect defensive performance.

Junior Katie McHugh added 2 blocks and 7 kills as well.

Leading the Ramblers in serving was Junior Katie Hoth who had 4 aces and also chipped in 7 kills and a really great defensive performance.

Junior Kelsey Hubbard led the Ramblers in the backcourt with 38 digs.

Freshmen Annabelle Seelye served at 100% and added 38 assists.

“After coming out and winning the first game in a thriller I had high hopes that the girls would be able to keep up their intensity going into that second game. Cheboygan did a great job at picking our defense apart but luckily the girls were able to adjust and ended up playing great the rest of the night. Cheboygan has a really great and consistent volleyball program so I am thrilled that the girls were able to pull out the hard fought victory. As always, our victories always seems to come in 5 games but a win is a win J,” said Boyne City Varsity Volleyball Coach Mallory Slate
