Three work sessions were slated for the upcoming months during the Tuesday Nov. 10 Boyne City Commission meeting.
All meetings are open to the public. Governmental boards may not make any decisions at work sessions.
1. City facilities update—Ray Kendra of Environment Architects has been working for several months on the plans to replace the city’s EMS, police, fire, city commission, museum, MSU Extension office. The work session is scheduled for noon on Thursday Nov. 19 at Boyne City Hall, 319 North Lake St.
Boyne City Commissioner Hugh Conklin argued to hold the meeting in the evening so more of the public could attend but the commission voted 4-1 to hold the meeting at noon instead. Conklin was the lone “no” vote.
2. Joint Board and Commission meeting—All the city’s major committees and departments convene to discuss issues facing Boyne City and to share opportunities and challenges. The work session is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Thursday Dec. 10 at the new Department of Public Works facility located at the North Boyne property. Boyne City Hall is the backup location in case of inclement weather.
3. Community goal-setting session—This meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Thursday Jan. 14, 2016, at St. Matthew Catholic Church in Boyne City, 1303 Boyne Ave.
The rest of the city’s regular meetings for the 2016 calendar year will have the same times, dates and places as they have in the past.
Boyne City Commission meetings are held at Noon and 7 p.m. on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month, respectively, at Boyne City Hall unless otherwise specified.
