Originally called “Dancing in the Street” the Street Beats event is now in its 14th year.

Join in for the music and fun of the Street Beat event in downtown Boyne City at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday July 30 and Thursday Aug. 27.

“Why not come down?” said event organizer Cindi Malin. “There is no charge, just an evening of music and camaraderie.”

Held twice each summer—always on the last Thursdays of July and August—this community gathering features live music, popcorn, hotdogs, grilled corn, drinks, fellowship and all the dancing in the street you can handle.

These two-hour events are simple-but-unique family-friendly gatherings in the SOBO Arts District.

“It’s so much fun,” said Malin. “How often do you get to close off the street and dance to a live band?”

She added, “We just have a really good time.”

Now celebrating its 14th birthday, this event began around the turn of this Century with just a couple dozen people.

“Now we have hundreds,” Malin said. “So, we must be doing something right!”

The entertainment will be announced as the date draws nearer.
