Marleen Jill Schraw, age 62, passed away at her beloved Boyne City, Michigan home on Saturday, November 7, 2015 following her short battle with pancreatic cancer.
Born January 14, 1953 in Flint, Michigan to Mason and Glanis “Mercedes” Keene, she attended Western Michigan University, graduating in 1976. On June 28, 1975 she married Thomas Schraw.
Marleen lived in many different places — including Saginaw and Kalamazoo, MI; York, PA; Nairobi, Kenya; and Allentown, PA — before settling in Boyne City, where she worked at the Schraw & Associates law firm until the time of her passing.
Marleen served on the board of the WinSome Women Foundation, chairing the music ministry. In this capacity, Marleen forged personal friendships with many leading Christian artists of her time including Dallas Holm, Sandi Patti, Michael Card, Robin Mark, Fernando Ortega, Laura Story and Kathryn Scott. She will be especially remembered for her elegance mixed with a spirit of adventure, and the tenacity to share her genuine relationship with her Savior, Jesus, with women of all ages.
Survivors include her husband Tom, daughter Whitney (Joshua) Skeans, son Joel (Sarah) Schraw and her three grandsons Jamus, Finley and Keene.
Services will be held at 11 a.m., at the Walloon Lake Community Church on Friday Nov. 13.
A brief visitation period will begin at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are also welcome to a luncheon immediately following the service.
Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers are welcome and should be made to WinSome Women Foundation for a memorial scholarship fund. Mail to 116 Water Street, Boyne City, MI 49712.
The family specifically thanks the staff and volunteers at Hospice of Little Traverse Bay for their tremendous help and support.
