Boyne’s first-ever Boyne City Freedom Run was held on Saturday Nov. 7 in Boyne City.

The Boyne City Freedom Run was a 5k and 1-mile run/walk fundraiser.

Participants ran and walked side by side with members from all branches of the United States military.

Recruits from the Marines, Army, Air force and Navy traveled to Boyne City to run and walk with the participants.

Nearly 40 military personnel joined the event.

This event, which is expected to continue next year, was an opportunity to show your support of veterans and community pride.

The event began at Boyne City’s Veterans Memorial Park, looped through town and ended back at the park.

The event was sponsored by the Boyne City American Legion Auxiliary Ernest Peterson Post 228.

All the funds raised will stay in the area to support veterans, their families, local veteran causes and the Boyne community.
