Boyne City High School played host to the East Jordan Red Devils on Tuesday Oct. 6 for the annual pink volleyball game and fundraiser entitled “Sideout Against Cancer.”
In addition to some friendly competition between the Ramblers and the Red Devils, the teams managed to drum up support for cancer causes totaling more than $1,000.
“Boyne City fought hard and it paid off to take three games from the visiting Red Devils,” said Boyne City Varsity Volleyball Coach Mallory Slate. “Kelsey Hubbard served perfect for the Ramblers while Emma Vondra led the Ramblers in solo blocks with 5.”
She added, “Abby Gardner, Hannah Hoth, and Celena Brzezinski led the Ramblers at the net with a combined 35 kills with Nicole Swadling assisting in all of those 35. Emma Shumaker played a great defensive game for the Ramblers as well.”
Boyne City’s volleyball team has raised $1,205 toward two cancer-related causes.
