Boyne City Eta Nu ‘Dressed for Chill’ keeps kids warm in winter

Crisp air, colorful leaves and Dress for Chill…. Sure signs of Fall in beautiful Boyne City. The Eta Nu Women’s Organization “Dressed For Chill” project as begun.

They work to distribute new winter outerwear for students in need at the Boyne City Elementary School. This is the eighth year Eta Nu Women have continued this community project, fitting over 100 students each year.

Dressed For Chill committee members work together on raising money in the community, organizing, shopping, distributing and fitting the new outfits, in coordination with Boyne City Elementary.

Last year the “Chill” committee outfitted over 115 students with new jackets, snow pants, boots, hats and mittens.

Because of expectations of another harsh winter, it is anticipated there will be an increase in the number of students needing assistance.

Funds are raised through donations from community organizations, businesses, individuals and grants.

Fund donation canisters have been distributed to several businesses in the community.

According to chairperson, Nancy Shear, “Some donations have already been received for this year’s project prior to the official kickoff!”
Fund donations are tax deductible.

Checks may be made out to Eta Nu Charities and sent to PO Box 133, Boyne City, MI. 49712.

Also, individual contributions to United Way can be directed specifically for Eta Nu Charities/Dressed For Chill.

“Dressed for Chill is one of the most successful community projects Eta Nu is involved with”, said co-founder Anne Eagle. “It is a true community effort, and we need the continued support of the community to make it work.”
