Registration has begun for the 5th Annual Charlevoix Area Hospital Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving morning, Nov. 26.
The annual 5K run/walk starts and ends at the hospital parking lot at 14700 Lake Shore Drive in Charlevoix.
A route map is posted on their website at cah.org, where convenient online pre-registration is available.
“We encourage this year’s runners and walkers to take advantage of our online pre-registration,” said Heather Parrish, one of the event’s organizers.
“Not only is it quick and easy, but it guarantees you a t-shirt.” Registration forms are also available at the hospital’s Emergency Department admission desk.
“Day-of-the-trot” registration begins Thanksgiving morning at 7:30 a.m. with the 5K walk/run starting at 8:30 a.m.
Registration will take place in the Charlevoix Area Hospital cafeteria; come in the hospital’s main entrance and follow the signs.
The online registration fee ($15 for adults/$10 for children) guarantees you a colorful long-sleeved t-shirt.
But if you prefer, for $10 more, adults can choose an adult hooded sweatshirt instead.
If you prefer to register on the day of the race, t-shirts will only be available on a first come, first served basis until they run out.
Children in strollers and pets on a leash participate free of charge.
Each runner and walker is being asked to bring a non-perishable food item to donate to the local food pantry, helping to stock their shelves for the holiday season ahead.
“The hospital sponsors this popular event to encourage the community to get out and exercise with family and friends before sitting down to that ‘big meal’ of the year,” said Amanda Evans, another of the event’s organizers.
“Join your friends and neighbors for a morning of Thanksgiving exercise – fun for the whole family!”
