Charlevoix Area Humane Society’s Woofstock—like Woodstock—will feature live bands and beverages, with Woofstock centering the celebration on dogs.
Woofstock kicks off at noon on Saturday Aug. 9 at Mackinaw Trail Winery and the fun lasts until 11 p.m., during which 16 live bands will serenade dogs and owners alike.
“We’ll be doing all the basics that we do at Poochfest,” said Scott Mackenzie, Executive Director at the Charlevoix Area Humane Society. “Most obedient least obedient; we’ll be doing the most vocal and costume contest.”
There will be a silent auction which will include everything from vacation packages to everyday household items including a sitting from a photography company, dog toys, bedding and more.
According to Mackenzie, the Humane society is pairing with Mackinaw Trail Winery because they are supportive of the humane society’s efforts.
“It’s just going to be a great day to celebrate great music and the animals we love through great activities and demonstrations,” he said. “You can come with your pets or without but everyone’s welcome.”
Admission for an all-day pass is $10 and donations are accepted. For more information about the event, go to: charlevoixhumane.org.
Mackinaw Trail Winery is located at 3423 U.S. 131, just south of Petoskey.
