Boyne City has a new face at the Chamber office, although she’s not necessarily new around the town, Ms. Kimberly Altobello has taken the job as the Associate Director of the Boyne Area Chamber of Commerce.
“My parents, Robert and Roseann Herrmann, moved permanently to Boyne City when I was in the third grade, so I spent most of my childhood and school years in Boyne City,” said Altobello. “I am a graduate of Boyne City High School. Upon graduation from high school, I attended Patricia Stevens Career College in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.”
Altobello has earned other degrees as well and is currently in the process of completing her Bachelor’s Degree.
“I earned my A.S. Degree from College of the Canyons in Santa Clarita, California,” said Altobello. “Also, I am a graduate of the Three year Banking Program, as well as, the beginning and advanced Human Resources Programs from the Graduate School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin, Madison.”
Altobello first learned about the Chamber position from a member of the Boyne City community.
“I was approached by a prominent member of the community, who felt that, with my previous background and work experience, that I would be a good candidate for the open position and suggested that I apply for the Associate Director’s position,” said Altobello. “I am also a member of the Boyne Eta Nu Charities and the Ladies Auxillary Club of the Boyne City Eagles.”
Altobello also is on the Board of Directors for the Charlevoix Area Humane Society and chairs their fundraising committee as well.
After living in Southern California for a number of years, Altobello moved back to Boyne City in 2012.
“I have a fiancé, Shawn MacNaughton, who is the owner of MacNaughton’s Pest Control,” said Altobello. “After living in Southern California for 34 years, Shawn is the major reason for the return to my hometown of Boyne City.”
Altobello has two sons that still reside in Southern California.
“My oldest son is a Marketing Director for a firm in Burbank and my youngest son is in law enforcement,” said Altobello.
Altobello says that one of the things she is looking forward to is more interaction with the Boyne community and promoting Boyne City.
“I am looking forward to growing within the position, promoting the Boyne Area Chamber and providing excellent service,” said Altobello. “Additionally, I want to somehow make a difference for people that live in our community and for the people that come to visit our beautiful town and area.”
One of the things that Altobello is enamored with is that she loves to help people, and she feels that is a big part of her job.
“I pretty much love every aspect of my job–love to help people, love to be involved in the community,” she said. “I have a great boss, great board members to work with, very supportive and caring community to work for, and with every day and I get to promote my beautiful hometown of Boyne City.”
