On Saturday Dec. 6, the Red Mesa Grill in Boyne City will host its 18th annual Judy Kuheana Benefit Breakfast.
The all you can eat Latin American Breakfast Buffet will be served from 8 a.m. until 10:30 a.m.
Judy was a founder of the Boyne City Community Food Pantry. She passed away in October of 1996.
In 2007 the event set a record by attracting 216 guests, raising over $2,400 including $783 from a silent auction on merchandise donated by local merchants. Our Goal for 2014 will be to break this record.
The Red Mesa Grill, with the help of Judy’s brother, Jerry Kelts has held The Judy Kuheana Benefit Breakfast on the first Saturday of December since it opened in 1997, raising well over $25,000 to benefit Boyne Area Charities.
This year the proceeds will benefit Boyne area food pantries through the Manna Food Project.
The number of individuals receiving food support from The Manna Food Project and its Partner Agencies in Antrim, Charlevoix and Emmet counties has increased by 70 percent in the first 10 months of 2014 compared to the same period in 2013.
Manna and its Partner Agencies have distributed 1.38 million pounds of food to over 260,000 individuals in need in our communities so far this year.
The Food 4 Kids Backpack program, which provides weekend food for preschool and elementary aged children, has grown nearly 10 percent in the past year. Manna is now delivering 1,825 bags of food each week for young children in our area.
Your support will help fill hungry tummies.
Cost for the Breakfast including juice and coffee is $10 for adults and $6 for kids 12 and under, collected at the door on the day of the event.
All proceeds going to Boyne Area Food Pantries through the Manna Food Project. More information about Manna at mannafoodproject.org.
