SPOTLIGHT
• Trever Kruzel (Boyne City 2011) contributed a season-high nine tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks as a starting defensive lineman for Northern Michigan University (1

-5, 0-5 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference) in a 42-35 loss at Malone University (1-5, 1-5 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference) on Oct. 11 in Canton,

Ohio.
On Oct. 4, the senior posted seven tackles, one sack and one forced fumble in a 14-7 triumph at Saginaw Valley State University (1-5, 1-4 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic

Conference) in University Center.
For the season, he’s compiled 40 tackles, 9.5 tackles for loss, 5.5 sacks and two forced fumbles.
Offensively, he’s tallied 10 yards on one reception.
• Karley Pearsall (Charlevoix 2013) collected a game-high eight blocks, six kills and one dig for Alpena Community College volleyball program (4-14, 3-12 Michigan Community

College Athletic Association) in a 3-1 loss against Lansing Community College (19-4, 11-4 Michigan Community College Athletic Association) on ) Sept. 28 in Grand Rapids. For the

year, the sophomore’s tallied a team-high 84 blocks, 76 kills and 11 digs.
FOOTBALL
• Ben Walton (East Jordan 2014) is a 6-foot, 250-pound defensive lineman for Northwood University, which fell to 3-3 overall and 2-3 in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic

Conference play after a 21-6 loss at home against Michigan Technological University (5-0, 5-0 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference) on  Oct. 11 in Midland.
• Kolbi Shumaker (Boyne City 2011) contributed 31 yards on two kick returns for Alma College (2-3, 0-2 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association) in a 26-23 loss at Trine

University (4-1, 2-0 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association) on Oct. 4 in Angola, Indiana.
On Oct. 11, the senior delivered two tackles and return one punt for seven yards in a 31-0 sweep of Adrian College (4-1, 1-1 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association) in

Adrian.
For the season, he’s total 45 yards on all returns and two tackles.
• Bryan Wonski (Boyne City 2011) is a 5-10, 210-pound running back for Alma College.
• Zachary Wandrie (Boyne City 2014) is a 6-foot, 250-pound offensive lineman for Olivet College.
• Tanner Catt (Charlevoix 2013) collected one pass breakup in his third appearance of the season as defensive back for Hope College (3-2, 0-1 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic

Conference) in a 38-12 victory at home against Rockford University (1-4) on Oct. 11 in Holland.
• Dustin Hejka (East Jordan 2014) is a 5-9, 150-pound wide receiver for Hope College.
MEN’S CROSS COUNTRY
• Eric Buday (Charlevoix 2011) tallies a season-best time of 16 minutes, 15.9 seconds on 5,000-meter courses for Michigan State University as the Spartans enter the Eastern Michigan University Classic on Oct. 24 in Ypsilanti.
• Andrew Plude (Charlevoix 2012) contributed the No.6 performance for Saginaw Valley State University at the Northwood Invitational by finishing 37th with a time of 17:08.5 on the 5,000-meter course on Oct. 1 in Midland. Among the field of four teams, the Cardinals clinched fourth.
MEN’S GOLF
• Wyatt Drost (Charlevoix 2011) clinched the No.5 performance for Saginaw Valley State University at the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships by tying for 45th with a  three-round score of 224 (76-76-72) from Oct. 10-12 in Georgetown, Kentucky.
Among the competition of 15 teams, the Cardinals ended in a tie for sixth.
• Chandler Novotny (Charlevoix 2012) is a redshirt freshman for Northwood University, which collected 10th at the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships.
MEN’S SOCCER
• Ben Myers (Charlevoix 2011) compiles one appearance as a midfielder for Michigan State University, which improved to 7-2-2 and 2-1-1 in Big Ten Conference action after a 2-1

triumph at home against the University of Wisconsin (2-8-1, 0-4 Big Ten Conference) on Oct. 11 in East Lansing.
VOLLEYBALL
• Jenna Way (Charlevoix 2012) collected four digs as a setter for Ferris State University (12-3, 10-1 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference) in a 3-0 sweep at home of Lake Erie College (2-15, 0-11 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference) on Oct. 4 in Big Rapids.
For the season, the junior’s totaled 10 digs, one assist and one ace.
WOMEN’S CROSS COUNTRY
• Molly Jeakle (Charlevoix 2012) tallies a career-best time on 5,000-meter courses of 18 minutes, 15.2 seconds for Michigan State University as the Spartans as the Spartans enter the Eastern Michigan University Classic on Oct. 24 in Ypsilanti.
• Erica Westbrook (Boyne Falls 2013) clinched the No. 3 performance for Kirtland Community College at the Lansing Community College Invitational by finishing 160th with a time of 24:48.6 on the 5,000-meter course on Oct. 3 in Lansing.
The Firebirds did not compete as a full team.
• Kaylee Wilson (Boyne Falls 2013) is a sophomore for Kirtland Community College.
WOMEN’S GOLF
• Paige Podskalny (East Jordan 2014) is a freshman for Northwood University, which finishing sixth among the field of 15 teams at the Beall Fall Classic from Oct. 12-13 in

Findlay, Ohio.
The University of Findlay hosted the competition.
WOMEN’S SOCCER
• Taylor Smith (Charlevoix 2011) collected 11th appearance of the season as a forward for Northern Michigan University (4-6-1, 2-4 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference) in a 4-0 sweep at Malone University (1-10, 0-8 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference) on Oct. 12 in Canton, Ohio.
For the season, the senior’s compiled nine shots and seven shots on goal.
