A local young lady isn’t letting a thing like a brain tumor stop her from her lifelong dream … but she needs your help.

Jasmine Davis of Boyne City is reaching out to her community, asking for financial support to help her enter the Miss Michigan Pageant on Sept. 26 and 27.

“A lot of money is required in order for me to compete in this pageant, but I have a lot of medical issues going on in my life right now,” said Davis. “My doctors recently discovered a tumor in my brain in the Pituitary Gland.”
She added, “The tumor has to be surgically removed a few days before the pageant, but I will not let that stop me. Because of these medical issues I am very, very low on money.”

Davis has wanted to be a model for as long as she can remember, and even has a grandmother who was a successful model when she was Davis’ age.

“At about a year old I was entered into a cutest baby contest,” she said. “I won first place in five different categories. My family and I were offered a deal of a lifetime to travel the world and compete in different pageants.”
But, she added, “My mother, Erika, being a new mom turned down the offer to stay close to family and friends. So since I was old enough to understand, I knew modeling was what I was meant to do.”

Her goal is to reach $1,705, which will cover the cost of three required gowns, registration, entry fees, makeup, lodging and more.

“I really need your help,” she said. “Anybody willing to sponsor me will be advertised in my magazine ad. Help me represent Northern Michigan and my hometown, Boyne City.”
She added, “Help me reach my goals and make my dreams come true.”
