Suspect arrested in Huff’s break-in

The Boyne City Police have arrested a suspect in connection with the Oct. 4, break-in of Huff’s Pharmacy. A suspect was developed shortly after the break in and a Felony Arrest Warrant was issued by the Charlevoix County Prosecutor. The suspect, who was from Boyne City was arrested in Phelps County Missouri.

 

A Boyne City Police Officer and a Charlevoix County Sheriff’s Deputy drove to Rolla Missouri, picked up the suspect and returned to the Charlevoix County Jail where the suspect was lodged. The suspect signed a Waiver of Extradition and Consent to Return while in Missouri.
The arrest charges are:

1. Breaking and Entering a Building with Intent

2. Larceny $1,000 or more but less than $20,000

3. Malicious Destruction of Building $1,000 or more but less than $20,000

Bond was set at $20,000.

“I’m proud of the way our department investigated this case”, said Boyne City Police Chief Jeff Gaither. “Everyone here had a role in this investigation. Officers even put in their own time to help out. We all recognized the importance to the city and especially to our business community of solving this case. It was also important to make the trip and bring the suspect back to face charges.”

The Boyne City Police learned that the suspect was in Missouri and contacted a Detective from the Phelps County Sheriff Department. That detective went out of his way to help us locate the suspect Gaither said.
