RICHARD LEE RUST, 83, of Alanson, passed away September 18, 2011 at Northern Michigan Regional Hospital in Petoskey, MI.[private]
He was born August 21, 1928 in Flint, the son of Stanley and Leah (Harris) Rust.
He graduated from Flint Central High School in 1947. He proudly served in Korea in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
He was employed at the Fisher Body Division of General Motors in Grand Blanc as a Master Craftsman, and retired in 1986 with over 33 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Maxine (Pete) Smith.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Phyllis (Nimmo) Brandenburg Rust; children, Robin (Bill) Lawson of Clio, Mark Rust of Hiddenite, N.C., Tracey Olds of Grand Ledge; step-children Pamela (Carl) Kranzo of Flushing, Becky Cussans of Pineville, N. C., Lori (Joel) Sweet of Traverse City; grandchildren, Mandy, KJ, Casey, Kala, Ethan, Evan, Ellie; great-grandchildren, Nathan, Corrina, Sadie ; 9 step-grandchildren, 10 step-great-grandchildren; and 2 nephews.
“Dick” and Phyllis have spent the last 24 years dividing their time between their homes on Pickerel Lake and in Venice, Florida. No services are planned at the present time. A memorial celebration of life will take place next summer.
