Judith Egas

Judith Ann Egas, 69, of Wolverine, passed away Friday, September 23, 2011 at the Northern Michigan Regional Hospital in Petoskey.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00am, Thursday, September 29, 2011 at the Free Methodist Church in Wolverine. Pastor Steve Evoy will officiate.

Judith was born on August 11, 1942 in Dundee, Michigan. She was the daughter of Ellsworth and Rhea (Spaulding) Shankleton. She grew up in Dundee where she attended school.

On July 25, 1961 Judith married Jan Egas in Ann Arbor where the couple made their home before moving to Wolverine in 1971. Judith was an avid flower gardener. She loved dogs and raised German shepherds and Samoyed’s. She enjoyed crocheting and oil painting. Judith attended the Wolverine Free Methodist Church.

She is survived by her husband, Jan; children, Christina Parker of Gaylord, MI, Jan (Michelle) Egas, Jr. of Wolverine; ten grandchildren; siblings, Myrna Shankleton of Gaylord, Ellsworth Shankleton of Wolverine, Donald (Miriam) Shankleton of Wolverine, Robert (Lillian) Shankleton of Jones, Michigan, Allan (Donna) Shankleton of Wolverine; many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Judith was preceded in death by her daughter, Laura Egas in 1986 and her brother, Gary Shankleton.
