Betty Wicker

Betty Sue Wicker, 59 of Boyne City, MI died September 29, 2011 unexpectedly at her home.

The daughter of Harvey and Francis Douglas Betty was born February 10, 1952 in Aurora, Illinois. She grew up in Wayne, Michigan, before moving to Boyne City.

On January 23, 1971, Betty married the love of her live, Obie Wicker, Jr. Betty worked at Boyne Mountain for over 18 years, then went to work for Northern Michigan Regional Hospital, where she provided 11 years of services as a patient service associate. Betty was a member of Genesis Church of Boyne City. Betty had an abundance of love for anything involving family, specially her grandsons. She also loved music, watching birds, reading and spending time with friends. Betty had a heart of gold, her constant smile and kind words touched many lives.

“This woman’s generosity and love is like no other; and I only wish I and others could be more like her. If you knew her – you were a friend for life. I lost one of my best friends. She was always there for me and any that needed help. The void she leaves in our hearts is beyond huge…the heartache is unbelievable.”

Betty is survived her husband Obie Wicker Jr.; sons Obie (Amy) Wicker III and Paul Wicker; father Harvey Douglas; grandsons Jack Wicker and Paul Joseph (PJ) Wicker, Jr.; sisters Francis Carol Pierceall and Virginia Losievsky; brother, Roy Losievsky; sister-in-laws Sandi (Lyle) Lake, Mary Fuller, and Donna Higley; brother-in-laws Jim Wicker and Bill (Sherryl) Wicker; many loved nieces, nephews and special friends. Betty is preceded in death by her mother Francis Douglas; sister Mary Ann Smith; mother-in-law Mary Wicker and Father-in-law Obie Wicker; sister-in-laws Lucille Goldsmith, Alma Grams, Maxine Karlskin, Virginia Brannon, Agnes May and Elsie Cooper; brother-in-law Charles Wicker and long-time special friend Phyllis Jackman

In lieu of flowers family suggest making a donation in her memory to VitalCare Hospice of Little Traverse Bay. Services will be held 11:00 am Monday, October 3, 2011 at Stackus Funeral Home in Boyne City with a gathering of family and friends from 10:00 am until the time of service. Pastor Jamie Woodall of Genesis Church of Boyne City will be officiating. A luncheon will follow at the Boyne City Eagles.
